House Size: What's Allowed Under the Ordinance

The ordinance that was passed by the city council only affects new building in Old Town from this point forward. It was designed specifically to address issues with new houses and new additions that have gone up in the last decade or so. The new FAR (Floor Area Ratio) rules are modest and reasonable. See for yourself. Here are the new rules. The limits do not include basements, so most every house can have at least 1,000 extra square feet for a basement.
